manual to auto swap

Has anyone done it? Just had mine done in my 88 firebird and I guess there's a hole in the floor that needs to be covered now. The guy also said he had to "strap down" the shifter because there was no where to mount it. Does this sound normal to you guys? Anyone have any ideas for the floor and mounting?

Yes that's all correct. As far as the whole strap down thing, im sure there was probably a better way to secure the shifter...

Re: manual to auto swap

You'll need the bracket thats welded to the auto tunnel to bolt down the shifter.Plus weld the hole left from the manual shifter.

Re: manual to auto swap

Shifter isn't my problem tho. I went from a manual to auto and I need to cover the hole where the manual shifter went through.

Cut out the tunnel off a car at the junkyard...portable sawzall or even a cordless drill are your friend

Dyno Don converted my '85 from a carb'd automatic to a fuel injected stick. Not a job for amateurs. Give Don a call and talk to him about it just so you know what you are getting yourself into.
