My LG4 in my 85 might just be done, guys. I don't have a ton of money, so an LS swap is probably out, but an LT1/T56 swap might work for me. Are there any shops in Socal, preferably OC, that have experience with this?

did you ever find a shop? im considering a swap into a iroc with a 305 tbi. lt1 or ls. looking for a shop or a person to do it for me

 

I did. I've been going to Dyno Don in Anaheim. He won't do LT or LS1 swaps as far as I know, but he did do an L98 TPI swap for me.

 

thanks. i considered a 305 tbi to 350 tpi swap but seems like by the time you add it up how much more is an ls swap. maybe im wrong tho. was the swap spendy?

 

Not at all. Don will provide the engine as well. He is a one man operation so you'll have to be patient, but he charges peanuts. I went from a carbed 305 and it took him several weeks, IIRC. Totally worth it in the end.

 

thanks for the info. i really am not looking for a drag racer just want something that gets up and goes. maybe cammed to get the rumble and some exhaust. as i want a convertable the 305 was only v8. would love a 350 with some wake up mods. i sent don a pm.

time is no biggie. could take a month and i wouldnt mind. its a play car for me

 

Don also sells the best CA legal exhaust, headers and pipes, money can buy for our cars. Good luck, maybe I'll see you around his shop.
