I have a set of fully ported and polished 113 heads that would have been good for this build.

Re: CA Friendly L98 Upgrade Plan - Review and Critique Please
Cut the stock N10 pipe out before the cats. Only managed to cut one of the 2 air pipes (lol sorry muffler shop guy).
I only have a single cat Y for my dual cat setup so hoping I can get a fresh set of dual cat y pipes soon... or have a shop 'connect the dots' and fill in the missing part of the Y

Instead of modifying the the bracket, I just inverted it and mounted it to the underside of the cowl.

Re: CA Friendly L98 Upgrade Plan - SuperRam Installed!
We got the SR installed tonight. Took the wife and I 4 hours. No special tricks, didn't need to remove rockers, etc. Long ball-end allen keys works great. We were real meticulous about the bolts; got everything snug tight then did a full tightening round.
Never thought I'd see this thing installed.

Re: CA Friendly L98 Upgrade Plan - In Progress
Almost done. Got the SLP airbox all in, charcoal canister moved and plumbed in, throttle body, and several other things. Muffler shop tied in the dual cat setup, but I should get one ordered from Don ASAP (time is running out) as its not as nice of work as he'd have done.
ToDos include installing the heated o2, smog diverter valve or whatever it is, ac compressor (though will be disconnected until I have it charged,) button things up, add fluids, and.. hope for the best.
Hoping i eyed timing good enough on the dist. I am not sure if I'll cold start it with the ESC disconnected and try to get an initial time in before raising the rpms for a bit or just go by ear until 'break in' is done and I can idle time it at running temp.

Re: CA Friendly L98 Upgrade Plan - Review and Critique Please
Finally got everything kinda buttoned up right, timing is good, bad MAF diagnosed and swapped, idle set right (IAC location ~5-10) and it's doing.. ok!
Was able to datalog some and it's definitely lean, as expected with these changes. Showing 160 BLM / 140-150 INT. All at idle. Leans out as the engine warms up (again, kinda as you'd expect.)
The heated o2 helps things enter closed loop pretty darn fast.

Re: CA Friendly L98 Upgrade Plan - Review and Critique Please
Yea, I am going to triple and quadrupedal check for any intake leaks, but haven't found any yet.
I get code 32 at cruise, but verified EGR is working and getting vacuum via gauge so... it's one of a few things. I have another thread on it here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...pi-5-0-vs.html

Re: CA Friendly L98 Upgrade Plan - Review and Critique Please
does that use an EGR switch or solenoid? Had one on a C4 same code took awhile to track down.
how do you like the power? installed acouple of those cams when they came out never got to drive them

Re: CA Friendly L98 Upgrade Plan - Review and Critique Please
It uses a solenoid, as well as the temperature switch. The trifecta of EGR BS!
The car builds steam at 2500 and just doesn't seem to run out of breath by the time the 700r4 shifts. Even at 5500 it didn't feel like it was gasping for air like it used to at 4500.

Re: CA Friendly L98 Upgrade Plan - Review and Critique Please
NICE! Any update? How does it run? Was it worth the work and $4 over the LB9 305? Asking because I'd love something like this (minus the headers and "Box" style intake. I too, have to pass ca SMOG, every 2 years.

Is the SLP Airbox "Ca approved"? It Looks like something a SMOG Tech would be concerned about. How would it run power and emission wise w/ the stock PFI upper and lower manifold?

Re: CA Friendly L98 Upgrade - In Progress
Yes sir. That unmarked tbi cam is out, and the GM 94666492 (Same grind as Howards 180225-12) has been installed. Installing the heads and doing the valve adjustment tonight after the garage cools down (any time before 7 its hell out there)
A lot of people keep quoting it's the 2032 cam grind, but some people elsewhere measured the duration and it's not as much as the 2032. $350 cheaper, so I'm not going to complain. Closer to the stock cam than the TBI cam was.
Duration is same as the stock 88-89 l98 cam (207/213). More lift of course.
Valve Lift Intake: .450
Valve Lift Exhaust: .465
Duration Intake: 260
Duration Exhaust: 266
Duration at 050 Intake: 207
Duration at 050 Exhaust: 213
Lobe Separation: 112
Intake Centerline: 108
