Yes we have a new name, but I don't wish to disclose it until Bret's had a chance to secure the domain name. 19 showed up for our inagural meeting, in no particlular order; Chris & Tom Foster, S. Shah, R. Brees, Danny Miller & Natalie, Rob Sowinski and his wife, Nick Steel, Thomas ***, Steve Ancuire, Brittney, GPL, Danny Piasecki, Kevin & Don L., Raul Rivas, Bret & myself. We've decided to have a 5 Member Board of Directors to run things. Those selected were; George Lara, Bret Donaldson, Kevin Lorentzen, and myself (Lon Salgren). If you have an issue that needs to be addressed e-mail one or all of us. One year term, new elections next December. Out next meeting is in 2 weeks, putting us back on the old schedule of the first Saturday of every even month. If you weren't there, sorry you couldn't make it. But have no fear we will go on with the new club from here. We took up a collection to register the domain name. Bret volunteered to take care of that. Nick will secure us space to host the new web site. Chris Foster offered to help with starting the new web page, Bret will help out with graphics. Kevin offered to help with site maintenance once it's up and running. After the improtant business was out of the way we had the usual "Show-n-Tell". Danny P. sowed a modification he made to his old odometer to keep it functional after the plastic retaining clamps broke. Chris showed us a LARGE TPI aftermarket throttle body. It would require a LOT of modification to run it on a stock plenum. A Superram would be a better choice to use with it. I showed the latest items available from Top-Down Solutions. Including the new Steering Brace (aka Wonder Bar) which will soon be released. This time an actual fabrication piece of metal, not just a mock-up model. The paint wasn't even completly dry yet. We have another convertible in the club (88 Iroc), thanks to Rob Sowinski from Palmdale joining us. The car is still in the shop, but hopefully we can see it soon. This brings us to 5 Camaro 'verts and one Firebird 'vert now. Take care all, see you in 2 weeeks, Same time, same place. Lon
Before I forget, Kevin mentioned racing at California Dragway in Fontana next weekend. Nick mentioned an upcoming racing event on their new infield road race track (I think in February). GPL mantioned Wed. night & Saturday racing starting up soon at LACR in Palmdale. There is also an upcoming event at Famoso Kevin mentioned, but I didn't write down the date. Just a one-day event, but lots coming from Northern & Central Ca, some LV guys, a few AZ guys have expressed interest as well. We should show our support as well.

Lon, in addition to the four officers you mentioned, Chris Foster is also part of that group of directors.
The other event I mentioned at Famoso was the GM West Coast Shootout. Its April 13th. I've posted the info on this board before.

Oops, sorry Chris. I should have double checked the count. Well I mentioned him indirectly, with the offer to setup the web site. But you are correct. Thanks Kevin.

Hey does Valencia Chevrolet have video conferencing? At the least they should have phone conferencing. I could participate in the monthly meetings using tele or vid conf.
Brett- how long till we find out about this domain name?

Dwayne,
I'm working on it. It should be pretty quick.
For everyone else, in addition to ".org" I've also looked into securing ".com and ".net". All three are available, however it will cost us additional $$$. Current price I have is $29.00 ea. for (1) year or $52.00 ea. for (2) years.
I think for now we'll just stick with .org or .net.

Bret - I'm just mesin around. No rush buddy!
So you've mentioned $ now. Will there be dues in the organization? How will this ".whatever" be paid?
I'm in for a few bucks if that's what it takes. But ya gotta tell the name first. hahaha

Dwayne,
We took up a collection at the meeting to register the domain name. The concept is that we will collect "web" funds every December at the year-end meeting to renew the domain name.
At $52.20 for two years I'm tempted to register for that deal. We collected $38 at the meeting so we're close.

Okay, I just got a line on a better deal thru a buddy of mine. It looks we can register the domain for $15 a year. At that price I'm definitely gonna do a two year deal. We're also well covered for $$$ at that price.

How about grabbing "blank.org" & "blank.net" instead? Both could link back to the site.

Okay, another change in plans. For $15 a year I'm gonna try to secure "blank.org", "blank.com", and "blank.net". That should run us $45 a year. All three are available.
No logo yet. That's on my list of TTD.
Gotta work on the web site too. Stickers, etc... will follow.

I'm glad to hear that so much was accomplished. One thought I've had is that we should keep this part of Dirk's board open and active if he is willing. That way, someone moving to So Cal who frequents this board will have an easier time finding us. We could also update activities on this site so that someone visiting from out of the area could join us if they wanted to.

My current plan is to secure all three domains. I have hit a small snag in the process though. I hope to have it corrected soon.
