Be on the lookout for complete T-56 setups please...

My daily driver recently spun a rod bearing, and a few hundred miles later some of the debris left in the oil system took out the main bearings. I'm in the middle of swapping in a used engine, but I really want the Camaro on the road again. If need be I'll simply replace the T-5 and the clutch (slipping), but I'd much rather replace it altogether with a T-56.

If anyone comes across a complete T-56 setup (flywheel, trans, shifter, clutch, clutch hydraulics, etc...) for a reasonable price in the So Cal area please let me know. Also to cover all bases if anyone has a line on a good condition WC T-5 let me know too.

A question regarding the swap: I already know I need a crossmember for it (Spohn makes one right?), but what about the torque arm? I seem to remember something about having to shorten it...

Andy

Nick: Right now I have T-5 with about a quarter of the teeth stripped off of 3rd gear sitting at Don's shop.

Don: That's a bit to rich for me right now. I'd love a brand new setup like that but I simply don't have that kind of cash available... I'm looking for something closer to the $1000 mark give or take a couple hundred.

my friend Jeremy parts out and rebuilds 4thgens. He's in the San Diego area. If he doesn't have what you need he'll know who will. ISERCASTiK@aol.com

Dan, you still have that? I was gonna buy that off you when you called me to help you install your T56, but you didnt call...

Nick, yah an 89 has a WCT5.

Andy, you only need to shorten the driveshaft and torque arm if you buy the aftermarket T5 replacement version of the T56. The stock one is a direct bolt in. Except, you need a T56 clutch (McLeod ), a custom crossmember (Skulte or Spohn), and cut a hole in the floorboard further back for the shifter.

I just asked Don to start rebuilding my T-5 to put back in my Camaro for now. Unfortunately I'm on a tight budget right now so I'll have to pass on that T-56. Hopefully I'll be in the market for a T-56 in a few months time, I'll keep you in mind.
