Run to Mt.Evans?
Since our last meeting did not go well.....I was wondering if anyone would be down for a run to Mt.Evans?? Meet somewhere around I-70,then run to Idaho Springs,Up to the top of Evans(great place for pics). Then go down the back way(really curvey). And that drops you into Evergreen. From there you can go back to I-70 or into Morrison. What to you all think. Oh and it is only $10 to get into the park and drive to the top. I have don't it afew times and is a blast to drive and the views are awsome.Maybe July 1st or the 8th....opinions????

Sounds pretty cool to me - I might even be able to change fluids, belts & hoses, & get temp tags on the GTA by then, it'd be nice to get it out & "stretch it's legs" a bit... I checked the mileage from my place to Idaho Springs, & it's pretty reasonable. Sounds like a fairly short trip, but a lot of fun.

Sounds great, I hope I have a new ride then. Either ways I am up for it.

Sounds like something I would like to do. The time frame sounds like it might work with me, unless my brake kit shows up around that time. If that happens the car will be taken apart.
Nice work Conway!

Also the date will be the 8th of July. With a mid-morning meeting somewhere along I-70,around 9am or so. Not sure of a spot yet, if someone know of a good place,post is. Also if you go to the top bring some warm clothes. Hope we have some member turn out for this.

If the car is not sold by than I'll be there. Otherwise I have to wait 'till the 11th to get the vette.
Maybe someone can give me a ride up there. I'll give 20 bucks for gas if anyone is interested in giving me a ride up there.

Meeting spot.....RTD park-n-ride
I-70 and Ward rd. It is on the north side of I-70, you can't miss it, big parking lot next to the highway. A good,visable place to meet before the run.

I'm pretty sure I know where that is! I still plan on coming, unless my box of goodies shows up, then of course I must be putting on parts. If thing work out to where I can come, did we decide on a time? I am good with the previously mentioned 9:00 AM.
I may have also found a new member. He has a teal 91 RS with an SS hood, and 18" Colorado Custom wheels. I thought that the kid sold the car, but happened to run into him in a buddies neighborhood. He said he sold the car, but got it back and was pretty excited about the thought of the club. I told him about the run and he said he might be able to come.

All right, no promises but... I'm gonna try & "Go For It" (show up with the GTA). I have a fairly long list of things that I need to -or would like to- get done before getting it back on the road, but I'm going to give it a shot. The list includes:
* Fix a brake line (a semi-minor "leftover issue" from the header install);
* Flush & replace brake fluid;
* Replace cracked windshield;
* Squirt a bit of oil (is WD-40 OK, or too light?
) into cylinders prior to cranking it over - spark plug access w/ SLP 1.75" headers is enough to make you kick your dog...;
* Recharge the battery;
* Drain old gas (5-8 gallons?) into a container that I don't have yet, replace fuel filter, add a couple gallons of fresh gas;
* Drain & replace coolant, along w/ radiator & heater hoses;
* Drain & replace oil & filter, lube chassis zerks, verify tranny fluid level & condition;
* Verify tire pressures;
* Verify that brake lights, flashers, headlights, wipers, etc. still work as expected;
* Get temp tags & insurance on it...
...and what else?? I KNOW there's something else that I'm forgetting...
All of this wouldn't be a big deal, except that I've got my time pretty much planned out for the next couple of weeks...
Wish me luck...

Well, the pro/am is gone. The guy put a deposit on it and I need to replace the flexplate and the catalytic converter this weekend for him.
From there I go onto buying another car. I might stay with a third gen, or I might buy a vette. I don't know. I've look at soo many cars...
Anyways, when is the run???
If its the week after next 8-10th, that would be probably the best for me.
I hope you guys don't get mad if I don't show up with a third gen??
And I would still like to be the part of the club.

I had this trip set on my calender and even had a hot chick that was stoked to get up early on a Saturday, But.... Baer brakes called me and said that my kit would be shipping out tonight. They figured that I should see the stuff show up on Wednesday. I am going to try and get them right on there, but I'm not sure how broke in the pads have to be before you can really put them through the paces. Would be a great place to "feel" the difference.
Anywhoo, I don't think I will be there.
Sorry, next time.

Oh, I will be working fast! I have been waiting for six weeks since orderd, and cannot wait any longer. I am also installing sportline springs at the same time to go even lower. If I can get the pads fully bedded I may still try and come.
Have fun and post lots of pics If I can't make it.
later,
Brandon

We do not want to be caught on the mountian when storms start rolling in.
So....
Meet at I-70 and Ward Rd at 9am this Saturday.
Run to Idaho Springs, from there up to Mt.Evans.
Depending who makes it(we can figer out which way to come home then).
Bring camera,and $10 to get in. Warm clothes is a must(even though it will be close to 90 degrees on sat).
I'm hoping aleast 3 or 4 of us make it.(I'd hate to take pics of just my beater)!!

I'd like to go but...gonna be out on the lake Saturday. I've got a couple small things to address on the GTA (you drive 'em they break) Friday night and then hopefully I'll get it (and the truck) sold so I can make the move I've wanted to make for years.

Well this time it is set in stone - I will not be able to go. Baer brakes got my kit here on Wed, like they said. When I opened the boxes I found that they had sent me the wrong rotors. They overnighted the rotors and I tore into it last night. Got the fronts on, and the rear torn down and partially re- assembled untill the point that I found that caliper brackets are not correct. I called Baer this morning and the tech department confirmed that they had sent me the wrong rear kit (off by one part number). They are going to overnight the correct parts to make the kit I have correct, but no way to get it on there!!
I tryed - I slaved away untill 12:30 last night.
Have fun and let me know how it went.
Brandon

I sent you my cell # in an earlier PM, give me a call if you'd still like to go.

I WILL be there at the next run. As far as notice goes, I usually need just a week. Too bad it didn't work out, I was excited to see some more pics of the scenery to get me pumped about going and raping some corners with the new additions.

You're being very diplomatic, Conrad...
Yeah, it was a disappointment to see only our two cars show - and it kind of begs the question of 'what does everyone want to do'? Today's event was an attempt to do something other than simply meeting at one member's house or another, since some people had expressed dissatisfaction with that kind of meeting.
I can understand Sasa & Brandon not making it, but I thought that since there was plenty of advance notice, at least a couple of other people would show...

Tim, I am sorry I did not see that you volunteered to give me a ride.
I guess I read your whole message, but the very last sentence.
Anywyas, I was free today, carless, but free nontheless. I am sorry not to be there, and it was my fault for not reading Tim's message.
I would like to go up with you guys to any trip.
Conrad, thumbs up for organizing the run, it just happened that most of us had something in the way of the run.
Next time! Just don't give up on the club, like Kelly did.!!!

uh man guys, not to make excuses, but i just couldn't afford it right now you know. and plus, i think the trip was a nice idea, but people are just not that commited yet (if i had my licence i would have gladly gone).
honestly, i think all meeting up at the sonic/federal car show would work the best.
it's easy to get to, theres other things to do then to talk TG's, and theres food lol. all in all i think it's probably the best soulution as how to meet up. and for those who make excuses about driving there, well, just see if you cant make it up at least once. hell, the thing lasts like 4hours lol, so why not give it a try. i see lee perry up there all the time, along with tim, and that creepy kid with the formula 350. so why not give it a whirl. no set dates, just get up there every friday night that you can, and have some fun.

I KNEW there was going to be rain, so that is my excuse.....never been in the rain, never gonna be! As fdar a the Sonic @ Federal, that is quite a drive from out here in Parker, but I WILL make it up there one of these days; we should set up one day that EVERYONE can make it down there, I meant, it is a f riday night and I don't think anyone here has to work a shift schedule, so: "Let's get-er-done!"

Well guys, I definitely understand what you're saying... I don't think that anyone should have to apologize for it being a bit too close to payday (especially with $3/gal gas!), and I've always kept my GTA out of the rain if there was any possible way...
I guess this time I just really got motivated to get it going again, and spent several hours & a pretty good chunk of money to do it in time, so I was a little disgusted that it all basically seemed to go for nothing. Not anyone's fault, just a combination of bad circumstances.
I guess it worked out for the best anyway, as the drive to & from the meeting place unveiled a couple more issues for me to try to work out...

are you seriousthe hampden and tower sonic has a total of like 50 cars, whereas the one off of federal has close to 300 EVERY FRI NIGHT, and the street races in south denver are nothin but a bunch of dumb honda-shod mexican nationals that drive around like there on need for speed underground.
i think the federal sonic is the best as far as safety, fun, and car count (not to mention variety)
lol and don't any of you S,E Aurora guys bitch about it being too far of a drive, cause last summer i was driving my HCI'd mustang to hampden and tower on almost a daily basis... it's not that bad.
not being a ****, but cmon, denver street racing instead of a sonic car show

Well, I don't think I'd say 300, but there usually is a pretty good variety of cars there... (dep. on the weather, of course...)

I don't mind going to car shows, like the one at Sonic. But I don't have a show car, just my beater. I fail to see why doing a run somewhere is so difficult? Plan it way ahead so people can make it, commit to it,prepare and then do it. Seems easy enough. Plus I like to DRIVE my car not just let it sit. No one here seems to like Coloradof-body, but atleast they turn out for stuff like this. Maybe, if there is a next time, people will get off their duffs and do something beside make excuses.

I think if we can find more members it won't be such a big deal for a couple people to not show, but when all we have is a small handfull of guy with working cars it makes it harder. My car is back on the road now, so I am down for what ever... as long as the roads are halfway decent.

Hey, I like driving my car too!
But I don't like to put a lot of miles on her! The TTA is going to be one of the next Hemi 'Cuda's....just look at the prices for the GNX in the past 2 years! Gotta keep them miles low! Don't mind taking the IROC, but she ain't the prettiest.
