I am GLAD to see this kit. It would have helped me out tremendously a few years ago on my 1987 Trans Am. I've got a car now that would need it, if I wasn't scrapping it.

Question on this: Is there a reason it doesn't work with airbag equipped vehicles? Is it due to the difference in the length of the plastic housing? I do not have the airbag or any of the airbag hardware installed in my column and several of the screw holes are stripped out in mine and its got some nasty sun fading and a couple cigarette burn marks. This would really help me freshen up the steering column and if its shorter than the airbag column as I suspect it is, it will make installation of a Grant steering wheel easier as I won't have to cut or grind anything down.

Would this work for me in a non-airbag application?

If it has tilt steering and no air bags it would fit.

But my car originally had air bag hardware. It doesn't now because I removed it. Near as I can tell the only difference between my column and an older column now is that mine has a slightly longer plastic housing on the end piece. If that's all there is too it then this kit is just what I need.

I'm not sure on what the difference is between the two.It may be the length of the steering shaft.
