What sort of stories have you heard about the Performance Friction pads? I just installed a set and haven't had any complaints so far.

I've had Performance Friction pads in my car for a while now and yes they do dust bad and squeek every now and then.
They do stop good but the dust gets on my nerves so I'm thinking about changing them out. I think Im going with either EBC Redstuff brake pads or Hawk HPS Street brake pads from www.tirerack.com

They had alot of bite until they broke in, now I'd say they are about average. I haven't noticed much dust since I fixed the rear drums. I rebuilt the rear wheel cylinders and reinstalled the shoes on the right way. The nut who owned it before me had different springs in each side wheel cylinders and the shoes on backwards on the left side. Makes a difference to have 4 wheels braking, maybe not as good as 4Wdisk but alot better than it was. So PF's, there ok.

Yes that's what I have, the PF Z-rated pads and I haven't really noticed any excessive brake dust. Compared to how much my last pads dusted there's a big difference. I think the last ones were put on by a dealer so they were probably AC Delcos I'm guessing, those were bad.

My PFs don't squeak, but they groan when I am pulling out of the drive and barely have my foot on the pedal. I can attest to the braking power. I was doing 130 the other day when some 100 yards off and the only guy on the road starts swerving back and forth. I came to a dead stop in what seemed like micro seconds. My other car buddy who was ridding with me commented on how smooth and quick the car stopped. I have to say the bit is good and they modulate like the volume **** on your stereo. You can turn the braking up at will!
Here's a cut n paste of my experience with VGX pads in a post just a few down..
The Powerstop rotors from Summit are fine.. I have them and have been using them for 3+ years now with no problems. But don't waste your money on their VGX pads. They don't seem to last very long (6 months the first time, 9 months the second time, 6 months the 3rd time). This last time, I was tight on cash so I got a set of cheapo $8 pads, and they're still going now 11 months later with PLENTY of meat left. And, they don't put out as much brake dust. So I believe VGX pads suck (I gave them 3 chances). There was no difference in braking power from those two pads.

Hey Poncho
May be the VGX brake Pads were not worth commenting about. Since they recieved only one reply and that was a negative response. Hope you did not buy them. Peace.

The PF z-rated pads are great, especially when warmed up. We sell VGX pads at my work, mostly to import people. I havn't heard too many complaints, But then again no praise either. Some of our accounts love them because they come with the hardware, and last long (so they say).
