Stainless steel brake kit

I was looking around, and i found a brake kit - http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/...4ShortStop.pdf

and iw as wondering if it would be worth the money, as my stock brakes are killing me 2 fold, and I do not have the cahs fer an all out 1LE upgrade...
EDIT: here is another link http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/...&carYear=82-92
I was thinking the "Short Stop Kit" for stock (non 1LE) type brakes - anyone have any thoughts?? Would it be worth $300?? Thats about half (maybe less) than what it would cost me fer a 1LE conversion, from what I have read....

All this "short stop" kit gives you is new rotors and pads...that's it. Not much of an uprade in my opinion. If you replaced your calipers and installed braided hoses, I suppose it would be a decent improvement. My RS has standard brakes and it stops VERY well, much better than my Iroc did. FYI, my 1LE upgrade will only run me about $600, not too much higher than that $270 short stop kit if you add in new calipers and braided hoses.

Thats true. 600 bucks, you say - are you pieceing it together? I really dont have the time to do that. Plus, if it doesnt go smoothly after I got all the parts, and go to install, I am out a car (its my daily driver...). Basically, if I do the 1LE upgrade, I'll need a very complete kit - including hoses, master cylinder, and spindles! As I do not have time to hunt fer parts enroute to the finsihed product, and I cannot afford to keep my car off the road more than a day or 2 tops. I have heard about Sphoon doing a grup purchase 1LE upgrade type of thing, but the last I heard it was to arrive early in May, and this is kinda...past that...
Anyways, I am not in a hurry to upgrade, but it is something I want to do eventually...

Yeah, the Spohn deal is taking a while, but that's about the only complete option out there right now except for that $1200 package that SSBC has. Plus, they charge you a core for your spindles, I think it's around $150.

Yes I have pieced mine together. I'm thankful this isn't a daily driver and that helps a lot. I haven't even torn into the brakes yet. I got my parts from a number of places: eBay, personal sales, and new GM stuff. If you want to start getting things together, here's a link that will list everything you need:

No parts hunting on your part!!! Dan's done a lot of research on it and has it nailed down, Also, you can contact AndyZ28 for his expertise on the swap. He knows all about it, too.

You can save money here and there, modify your own spindles, rubber hoses instead of braided, etc. Just look around to find deals. If you need the car but still want to upgrade to 1LE, just repair the car with stock parts and put the 1LE system together, then do the swap when you're ready. Shouldn't take you a weekend to do.....if it all goes smoothly..

SSBC does not charge a core charge for the spindles. Baer does, though.

I added the racing lug bolts.

PF Flyer,

What are racing lugs? Do they come off easier? Do you have any pics of them? What's their funtion? Do they improve anything?

Thanks,
Jesse

I use a standard open ended lug nut on the extra long lug bolts.

The added length makes it easier to put the wheels on and then get a lug nut onto.

I haven't been to the track yet, but ...

... the testing I've done on the street have been quite an improvement.

I hope to hit the track with Hawk'blues' around the middle of next month.
