look at what i found at work....good or no good?

Ok at work today i was walking around and i noticed someone threw away these rims. They had all 4 there but the front ones looked like they had been in a car accident, so i grabbed the back hopping they are ok to throw slicks on. well i just grabbed them and threw them in the trans am, got home and me and my dad were inspecting them. they are 14 inch rims, and look to be 9-10 inches wide. they looked like a keeper so far, then my dad looked closer to the lug holes.....2 of them are missing there "lip"...how bad is it?? take a look at the pic.. im gonna try to mount them this weekend and see how they look, but what are your guy's thoughts on them? If they are a keeper then i was gonna have a buddy sandblast them, then i was just gonna spray paint them. they dont gotta be pretty for the track! any way to find out for sure if they are craigers?? there were no center caps with them. anyways,,, look at the pics and tell me what you think.

They look like old Cragar's to me. Steel wheel, kind of heavy but more than likely, plenty strong. Only 14" though, huh? Well, you could probably get a better rim now, but not bad for free!

If I recall correctly, Cragar had their stamping/model info inside the rim hub facing the spindle/axle. See if there are any identifying marks in there.

Good luck.

They don't look like Cragars to me. They look more like old factory Pontiac rims.

i think they are 14's...the tire doesnt have any numbers on it. when i measures it from rim to rim it said 15, but when i measure the ones on my car, the tire says R15, but from rim to rim is 16 ??? i dont know how to do all the measurements. wiill it be fine without the little "lip" that the lug nut sits in? also waht kind of lug nuts will i need?

They're definitely not stock rims for any year thirdgen as I used to have an 87 with the Pontiac Ralley rims that look similar to those.

I might be mistaken, but are those drag radials mounted on those? It looks like theres a little bit of tread left too, I'd save them for track use or mount your own slicks on them. IMHO, they're too heavy, too small, and don't look that great for daily use. I believe you can use Acorn style lugs and they should taper out enough to support those holes - another reason you shouldn't use them for daily use. It is possible to run a tire with as few as three functioning lug nuts but I wouldn't recommend it.

it would only be for strip use. the drag tires on them are carp, they have been sliced up. im gonna get them sandblasted and paint them so they arnt as ugly......they are HEAVY also.. so i can use them for dragging with the holes like that?

In your close-up shot, those rims look pretty corroded. Personally, I'd be concered about how sound they are. You don't want one of your rear wheels beating you to the finish line.
