Brake line and proportioning valve question

I have a 1984 Z28 and I'm doing a 4 wheel disc conversion. The rear brakes are the smaller ones of the earlier 4 wheel disc cars. I just ran a new front to rear brake line as well. I picked up the master cylinder and proportioning valve from a 1LE car. I know that the 1LE cars used the bigger brakes so will this cause me any problems with the smaller rear brakes? also is the thread for the fitting on the front to rear line the same going into the proportioning valves as it would be on a the newer 1LE car because I can't seem to get the thing to thread into the proportioning valve. Thanks

I guess the 1LE doner car was '90-'92? If so the brake lines will not work. You will need the 1989 style combination (propotioning) valve.

well here's what I'm gonna do....

since I have been unable to locate a proportioning valve and I've got to get this done ASAP I am gonna cut the tube and put a new fitting on it. I've got plenty of extra tubing before the valve so I that shouldn't be a problem. Does anyone know what fitting this prop valve uses so that I can go down to the local auto parts store and get the correct line/fitting ?

I think I have the correct proportioning valve for your application. It might save you a whole lot of trouble.

Putting an ISO "metric" bubble flare on the brake lines is a rear hassle. Or at least it was for me.

Well I've never tried doing the flare but if the tool does what it's supposed to then it shouldn't be that hard right? Anyway how much are you looking to get for the prop valve? If you wanna email me privately and we can deal or whatever that'd be fine. BlakCamZ28@hotmail.com Thanks

I see that the combination (sometimes refered to as a proportioning) valve is available from gmparts direct.

GM part# 14089496 @ $45.00 or so.

For this valve to fit your car you will need to reinstall the original front to rear brake line.
