Ok a friend of mine has a 89 z71 and he broke his 10 bolt, but were looking to either put a 12 or a 14 bolt in. they will both work, but whats the difference. We found a 12 bolt for 600 and a 14 for 750 so. I was wondering how much stronger is the 14 to the 12?
I happen to own an extensively modified but streetable '89 1/2ton chev truck. But you probably think this is bulsh*t too.
Gee, I could help you, but will I. Not after the smartass remark you made towards me.

but seriously if you going to get mad at someone at least do it over the pm thing thirdgen provides for we don’t all have to see it

You say Im not gonna help you cause you said this to me..wow thats real mature. anyways anyone else know anything about the 14 bolts strengh against the 12.

the 10 bolt in the full size trucks is pretty beefy. A 12 bolt won't be much of an improvement on it. The 14 bolt will be bulletproof. Look into Dana 60's too.

Yeah on the 10 bolt he had it rebuilt once and put 4.56 gears in it. Again it broke the other day the guy who build it ,says its the stress of the tires. He has 38s on it right now so. Anyway he told me bought the 1 ton 14 bolt with 4.10 gears yesterday. It will be here monday or something so we will see how this works. Thanks for your help though guys.
Well I doubt he wants to shave it since its going on his truck. The truck has I think 10 inchs of total lift. I know at least 6 or a 8 inch suspention lift then a 3 inch body lift. He has plenty of ground clearance so.
