1.1 Lateral G's . . .

Just wondering how Tom Keliher achieved this in his formula if anyone knows. That's what it says in the reader's rides anyway.

Thats pretty damn hard considering brand new vettes can't even achieve that. Maybe there was a substance on the tires or surface?

Yea. I kinda found that hard to believe myself but I won't doubt him until I know for sure.

New Vettes can achieve that, they just can't in stock form. Im sure most F-Bodies have the ability to also.

take a ride in my Z06 w/Hoosier's all around, and you can feel 1.0+g's. Never measured the IROC yet, but my guess is that it is not far behind.

Our cars have the capabilities to acheive aprox. 1.2g's with the right suspension and tires. Mine is still very streetable and will pull 1g on Bfg comp t/a's(No Its not stock). My 68 Vette racecar has measured 1.21g's, It starts to make you sick. I was also the first non-employee of Irwindale raceway to drive a Nascar on that track so I do know what g's feel like. I have video of Clint Mears and myself running laps together at 110mph on the 1/2 mile oval.

I have a G-Tech Pro accelerometer. It has a "continuous G" function and also a "highest G" function. I set it up on the highest G function, and went canyon carving. When I was done, it had recorded 1.1G

Ah, so that's how you figured it out. Cool.

Stock vettes can achieve a G. BFG has a whole ad campaign just to show that. (with their tires of course)

chevy high performance almost did it in a '91 z28. they put 275/40-17 bfg g-force kd tires on. and adjusted the panhard rod to center the rear. pulled 1.01g's june 2000 issue.

The speeds are higher yes, but in the short stuff the car snaps harder into and out of the corners than the big tracks. You'll obtain almost the same g's but it is more progressive and forgiving than the small tracks. California speedway is a walk in the park compared to Irwindale. ( Six people have died from hiiting the wall at Irwindale since it opened 3 years ago)
