How to replace front brakes?

I have a loud screaming metal on metal sound when I drive but it stops when I tap the brakes, everyone I talk to says I just need to replace the pads in front.

I hope you dont get too big a laugh out of this but I do not know how to change the brakes. Are they somthing a non-mechanical person like me can change?

Where can I get the instructions on how to replace them from?

I hear all I have to do is take the front tires off and I will see where the pad is bolted on and all I should have to do is un-bolt a few bolts and put the new pad on, is it this easy?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Steve

In principle that is all that is required. Best thing you can do though is buy either Chitern's or Hatnes repair manual, where it is shown in detail. You will also need a G clamp to push the pistons back out. It is an easy job though.

Hope this helps a little.

That should be Chiltons or Haynes rather.

Thank you for the reply's.

Last guy I just spoke to here at work said that if I can change an air cleaner I should be able to change my brake pads. Im sure it will be a little harder than that but Im gonna give it a try.
