How thick are the rotors, and would Z06 calipers work on a rotor that
thin? I was checking the pricing on the 1LE brakes, and frankly that's still a boatload of money. If I'm going to spend a grand and need to modify the spindles and get a custom bracket, I want the best brakes I can get for the money, and the new vette brakes have a hyooge swept area and are < ~$400 for the calipers, pads, everything except the custom brackets and of course the 1LE rotors.

You will still have to modify your spindles, and be near $800.00 anyway. Not to mention the fact that you will need to get vette, or vette type wheels.
These things all add to the hidden cost of conversion.

Are you saying that the vette calipers are so wide when looking at the rotor on edge, that they would hit the inside of the rims? I have to modify the spindles either way, so that's a sunk cost. All I know is Spohn wants $200 for the brackets, and for that price I can have 2 complete C5 vette calipers and brackets. So, my point is just that I'm pretty certain that the C5 vette uses a much larger pad than the 1LE brakes do, and if I'm going to have to modify the spindles and create a custom bracket, then perhaps I can use the C5 calipers instead of the majorly expensive 1LE calipers and get better performance in the process. Still, what is the 1LE rotor width, I just can't find that info on the net.
