Creaking noise when front suspension flexing

The front suspension on my stock 92 RS just started creaking like the floorboards of an old haunted house today. I first noticed the creaking noise after going over a few small speed bumps in a shopping center. I shut the engine off, got out of the car, and bounced the suspension by pushing down on the car above the front right and front left wheels. And there’s that creaking noise again coming from both sides.

My guess is that the springs and/or the shocks are making that noise. I hope you guys tell me that if I shoot some WD40 or grease at some key locations the noise will go away.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

PS: The car is approaching 99k miles.

Is it common for the front suspension on our cars to make this noise at about 100k? Given that they are very nose heavy.

Do you just live with the noise SLOW5.0?

You guys aren't alone. Mine does it too. Must be a popular trademark. Mine's got over 150,000, so I guess I'm due. I was hoping that a good chassis lube would cure my problem, but the source of the groan is nearly impossible to find.

Check your frame for cracks behind the steering box, they are prone for cracking there and it will make a creaking sound. If it is cracked, get it welded of course but then add a steering box brace (aka-wonder bar). The wonder bars came stock on the Irocs because of added stress of larger tires.
