Installed, yes. For competition, no.

A 4 point roll bar consists of a main hoop and 2 bars that go down to the rear. Although there's nothing wrong with it, it does little to stiffen the chassis. A 4 point bar is more designed for roll over protection only. ie 4x4.

NHRA rules say that any vehicle running quicker than 12.0 or a convertible running quicker than 14.0 requires a roll bar with a minimum of 5 points. This means there also must be a door bar on the drivers side but most people also have the passenger door bar installed making it a 6 point roll bar.

There are also minimum tube diameter and thickness requirements. The roll bar needs to be welded to plates that are welded to the floor since third gens have no frame. It must be mig or tig welded together.

If you have a slow vehicle 14+ seconds then you can have anything you want since there's no requirement for a roll bar but if you're going to add the extra weight in the vehicle you should at least have it installed to specifications.

My roll bar is only a 6 point bar and I'm confident enough that if I ever crash it will provide enough protection to prevent any injury. I'm still planning on changing to a complete 12 point cage.
