Strange sound, coming from front wheel
I don't know which it is but when I'm turning left my front right wheel makes a scratching sound. If I slow down and go straight it's still scratching. When I crawl it makes the same sound but it only goes with the wheel once a revolution making me think that it is definatly a brake problem. I checked the pads and rotor and both look fine when still. I'm going to jack up the car tonight and spin the tire to see if it's a warped rotor, although I don't feel it at ALL in the pedal. The car doesn't pull to a side and the braking works great. I was under the impression that if a pad was low that the scretching was constant, any ideas? Maybe a wheel bearing (gonna look at that too tonight).

You may have something stuck between the rotor and the pad. Or you may have a defect in the pad. I had the later, the pad had a peice of metal that must of got formed into the pad, as soon as I had worn the pad down to that layer, it made the most annoying scratching noise.

do third gens have a rock guard? Out old taurus did it because of that, or could be that the squealer is is bent to close to the rotor. Other than that I don't know.
