swapping 9-bolt discs over to 10-bolt....anyone done?
after dragging home a complete 9-bolt posi/disc with 2.77s for $125. yesterday, thinking a simple gear swap up to 3.42 was a good deal......then finding out that gear swap will cost more than I can build my complete 10-bolt for......Im thinking.
Has anyone taken the disc brake system from the 9-bolt and put it on a 10 bolt? Did some measuring for the bracket/backing plate bolts and they seem to be off 1/4". I'm thinking this should be no big hurdle and looking for opinions or experiences of others.
Thanks,
Shannon

The disc brake setup on the pre '89 rears is not too desireable.
I would suggest you try to sell the rear you have, and start over.
Ed?

Here....and I don't need another 9 bolt, unless someone has a 3.45 with a good posi available....cheap.
I saw in another post that you said it's an '86 9 bolt...correct?
If so, those (disc) brakes suck. Your best bet is to find a set of 9 bolt backing plates (Andy is getting them made.) and install a set of '89-up PBR brakes on your 9 bolt as seen below.
