huh? Kerosene, ATF and 10w are just different grades of oil. None are "cleaners". You need a solvent or degreaser to clean a block not oil.

You should just take it to a machine shop and have it hot tanked. If you want to degrease it, take it to a wand car wash and pressure wash it with engine degreaser. Dry it off with compressed air.

i think he's talking about de-sludging the engine. yeah a half quart of kerosene is al that those fancy can's of "motor flush" are. be weary if the motor has high miles. i did this to my original 305 and it died 3 days later. i only ran it for half the recomended time which was 5 minutes. when i drained the oil it almost over flowed a 7qt drain pan. (only had 4.5qt of oil and .5qt kerosene put into it)

try atf first, it has detergents that will loosen sludge, not as well as kerosene i imagine.

one word of caution though, loosening sludge can result in clogged oil passages, it doesn't neccessaarily disolve, it may break off in to chunks or lumps. if your set on flushing it i would use a light oil afterwards and change it a few times before logging many miles
