how wide of tires can i get on stock rims?

how wide of tires can i get on stock rims?

how wide of tires can i get on stock rims? i have the stock 15x7" rims on my 91 firebird. the stock tire size is P215/65R15 can i get some P265/60R15's? or will they not fit on my stock rims. also will i have a problem with the tires rubbing?

i had 275/60's on the same rims they rubbed a little bit on the inside wheel well around really hard turns but nothin ya couldnt fix with a bfh... 265's would probably be alright though

well i'm only going to put the 265's on the rear. i'm going to keep 215's on the front

You may run into heat issues with tires that wide on a 7" wide rim. Being that 255 is really the widest you should go on an 8" rim I can only imagine how round your sidewalls look when they're mounted. When they roll, they'll flex even more and create alot of heat which could be very dangerous. I'd stay with something smaller or switch to a larger rim. Don't do dangerous things to get the look you want. :nono:

245/60's are the largest I would go, and that's pushing it. You would probably get better performance with 235/60's. A tire that is too wide for the wheel hurts traction and looks kinda goofy(IMO)
