Here's one I made earlier.
You will need:
tubing-1" diameter
pipe bender
chop saw
mig welder
tubing notcher(homemade)
steel plate
2-pack volvo silver paint

Have you got a closer shot of where the STB attaches to the struts. I'm thinking of making one up.

That paint looks shockingly good, even with the dust!

Got me thinking... Is it possible to make one that doesnt go over the engine... engine will be sticking through the hood. Would connect to firewall or would this still be too much flex without a crossover? I work in a company that builds bent tubing for aircraft engines so have a lot at my disposal. Maybe weld a brace along the firewall and connect to that, maybe 1"-1.5" .065 wall stainless tubing. hmmm... got the wheels turning.

erik - nice job, do you use some kind of bushings at the tower or just straight thru bolts?

I've got some steel rod which I turned down on a lathe which fits into the STB exactly.through this are drilled holes big enough to insert the fixing bolts.I suppose you would call this a sleeve.

Mild steel my good man,no heat treatment. This is way,way strong enough when you look at the thickness of the steel left after the holes are drilled.
