if you buy one from moser or strange it'll bolt right up. if you get one from a bone yard you'll have to relocate all the f body brackets to the 9" and make sure the width is right, other than that it'll bolt right up.

I bought a Z28 with a Ford 9" in it already. The problems I can see with it is that the torque arm has been moved over a little more than factory, due to the larger center, and it hits the trans tunnel when the rear of car is weighed down. Also my rear springs do not sit straight, they are angled from front to back. One last thing, is I would recommend an adjustable panhard bar, as my diff sits off every so slightly to the drivers side, Im pretty sure its the panhard bar pushing it off center. Unless you have some major mumbo under the hood... I would stick with a 10 bolt.

A friend has one from Moser. For what you pay for it with it's 800hp axles etc.etc. I don't think it's worth even trying to fit a junkyard piece. If you look at all the brackets (you'll probably need a jig AND the brackets from a 10-bolt making it even more worthless) and the torque arm mount, which looks a very difficult item to reproduce. Not to mention shortening the housing and STOCK axles.Moser's package is excellent.I think with his though he had to make new brackets for the sway bar (9" axle tube is much bigger).I also think a custom length driveshaft was used.I say go for but don't expect it to be that cheap or 100% hassle free.

I haven't done the swap yet, but I do know which stock rearend is the correct width. Look for a 9" out of a 67-68 Mustang or Cougar. They are kinda hard to find because they are the same ones that fit 1st gen Camaro, Nova, Falcon, Fairlane and other midsize cars. People keep offering to buy the one in my garage, but I swear I'm gonna put it in someday...
