Ronal Firehawk wheels with Eibach Sportline springs

I'm giving serious consideration to getting the Ronal Firehawk wheels but I'm worried about the 9" wide wheel clearing with the 2" drop from the Eibach Sportline springs currently on my car. I'll be using 275/40ZR17 tires to keep the same diameter but the width will obviously be greater. Is anyone out there using a similar setup? I'm aware of cars with the ProKit springs having little to no problems but what about the Sportlines?

I'm running 275/40/17 all around with sportlines without any problems. Be sure to check your offsets and backspacing. You shouldn't have any problems unless you've got a couple hundred pounds of stereo equipment in the back.

I'm running 275/40/zr17's in the rear with Sportlines on my 91 z. No problems or rubbing at all. There is still some fender gap with the 40 series tire but not much. I will fix that soon

The rear isn't what I'm worried about,the front is. Will the 9" wide wheel and 274/40R17 clear? I'm aware of the supplied spacer so I really need to hear from someone with Ronals and Sportlines.

Actually, the rim is not a 9, but a 9.5"

I got the SLP Firehawk rims and Eibach Prokit - neither have been installed on my 83 TA yet other than a trial fit for the rims.

I know you're asking about the Sportlines; however, you might be intersted in the following:

1. I had to use a 5/16 spacer to get the front rims to clear the tie rod ends as well as the bearing dust caps.

2. The SLPs did not come with spacers. I think the Ronals come with 1/8 spacers but you may have to get 5/16 spacers anyway;

3. As you probably know, the Ronals have a white centre cap with their logo on it and a plain face cut unless you pay extra to have them painted. The SLPs have dark grey centre cap and face cut. The SLPs might look better your car because of the grey centre cap as per the photograph attached hereto.

I have the SLP firehawk rims and 1 1/2 in lowering springs on my '82.. No trouble at all with fit here. My set came with lug nuts and the spacers but since I had no clearance trouble the spacers are collecting dust. I am pretty sure I didn't need spacers because of the Baer setup I have though.

You can see how it sits in this thread.

I have the Eibach ProKit and the Ronal 17X9.5s with 275-40-zr17's. I had no clearance problems except for griding a little on my passenger tie rod end. I had to use the spacers and special lug nuts on the front. I think you would be fine with the Sportlines also. My buddy is running Sportlines with ROH ZS 17X9.5s with the same tire as I have... again, no clearance issues.

I was under mine yesterday changing the oil and took a good look at the tie rod ends and even with the 16" wheels they sit pretty close. I guess with the extra inch of diameter it should be OK. Maybe there were differences in front rotors from year to year?
