old car craft
i found an old issue of car craft where they install and test baer brakes for the third gen.
i am currently trying to get the scans that i made small enough without loosing readablilty.
if anybody knows how, it would be a great help.
or how would i email the pics so they may become technical articles?
thanks
andrew

That's funny. I just remembered that issue and spent three days digging through all my mags before I found it. I assume you are talking about the '91 Z28 that they put them on right? There is also an article in an issue of High Performance Pontiac from '97 that they put a set of baer brakes also.

now, for $200 more than spohn's stock 1LE kits, you can get braking numbers like that.
how do the 1LEs perform compared to these numbers?
which is more bang for the buck

That system for all practical purposes is the 1le kit with one more inch of rotor diameter.. I have the 12in Baer kit F&R which is the same diameter.
I would think performance would be the same.
Some differences to consider.. Baer can offer different rotor/caliper finishes. Also the 1le conversion kits out there have you modifiying your existing spindle to put on the 1le bracket. The Baer kit already comes with the brakes assembled on a reconditioned (or new) spindle with new bearing/seals etc. hence the extra cost.. It is literally a plug and play proposition.

yes i have seen many magazine articles involving a baer swap. really nice, i even remember one that they didn't even have to allign the fronts afterwards.
but that extra inch will do alot for brakes
