1le rear brake question
Hi,
Pretty much have my 1le rear brake upgrade almost done. This board has been a huge help. I do have one question about the emergency brake though.
I ran the cables back to the stock location but they go past the piece in the tunnel that they are supposed to connect to. Even if I put the piece to its limit the cables are still too long by 3-4 inches. Any advice?

Is the brake upgrade on your '87 or the '92? Does your e-brake adjuster look like this??

axle is 9 bolt borg warner. i swapped on new backing plates for the brakes to fit, so only the brakes and backing plates are donor equipment.

Andy,
Is there a P/N on these? Will the work with the existing equalizer? I may be stupid here but I pulled the brakes with e-brake cables off of the 92 z28 1le. what is the difference in the cables? do i have to have J65 specific to 1989?
Will one from 91 work? I found the P/N for 91 E-brake cable with J65.
Does the equalizer need to be replaced as well?
Sorry for the confusion in questions just wanna make sure i get the right parts

i too did the pbr swap on my 88'. if you want you can go to orieleys and get the e-brake cables from them. they were the wagner brand and have worked ok for me. if you want oem then might try a search or someone can post part #'s for you.

I believe you will need 2 of part# 18033788. The parking brake cable saga is a long story. So I won't tell it now. But I believe these are the cables you need.

thanks andy..
the other issue i ran into was at the proportioning valve and getting the lines to screw in.. No go.. Are these differerent as well.. I was searching around.
The valve and MC i got is from a 92. Are they m1.5 as opposed to M1.0 threads which I think are on my car?

Your brake lines on the 87 are SAE and the 92 are metric.

Zimms, you will need to install prop valve # 14089496 since you have an '87 car. AndyZ28 has more info and so does Daniel Burke.
