Any problems with sfc's

Sorry if this has already been brought up, i searched for it but couldent find it.

Are there any problems with welding in sfc's or welding up the existing supports on the interior. wouldn't it get the carpet inside really hot (burn/fire). please set me straight on the issue.

yes it will get hot/burn the carpet

when i did mine, i pulled the carpet up, and put a 2x4 between the carpet, and where i was welding.

The other problem is when you weld the SFC to the little metal lip that comes down on the bottom. It is 2 very thin peices held together by body sealer and when you try and attach a weld it doesn't do too well. If you take your time with the MIG it can be done correctly though...
