steering box

What does the nut and allen screw on top of the steering box do. My 'bird wanders and I thought maybe I could adjust the play in the box. The Haynes manual doesn't mention it.

It adjusts the end play of the Pitman shaft.

It does help, alot in some cases. It's easy to overtighten and then have your steering bind, and if there are other loose parts like tie rod ends or the center link, the wandering is very difficult to control. Make sure all those joints are in good shape.
