rollcage spec chromoly tubing is gonna be the way to go, angle iron flexes too much unless your gonna weld two peices together and box them...
Ya I hear you, I know tubing or square stock is stronger but I have angle iron laying around and was just wondering if any one has used it. I'm sure I'll make them out of square stock as it is strong and will have many jacking positions. Does anyone know the effects of welding in the sfc with no load on the suspension. I ask because all drive train and interior is out and this would be a very easy time to weld them in. IMO I don't think it sould matter because the suspension takes the weight of the drive train not the body.

Also, if you have the body propped up and it's not "true" when you weld in the SFC's, it will stay that way.

To get the same strength out of angle iron as you can get from tubing, it has to weigh about 3 times as much...
Just do it right, some things are done the way they are for a reason, and need no further experimentation in cost reduction methods. I'm sure that if angle iron would work, somebody would be marketing a set of SFCs for $5 less than everybody else's, made out of it.

If everything is out of your car and is immobile, what is wrong with getting the square tube ,cutting it to size with the right configuration and resting the car with its weight on the sfcs. Then do your welding.
