i have your torque arm on my car for the t56....i am having some problems with it......

its making a clunking vibration when i slow down and i know that everything is tight..i was wondering if the problem is that the two sets of bolts where the torque arm bolts onto the crossmember

could this be caused by the top bolt being a little loose and the bottom bolt being tight?...the clunking is right by the shifter area right where thses bolts are...

i also checked the rear end bolts and they are tight also

any ideas?

I have a similar sound! For me, I think it's the top bolt of the metal bar on the TA front mount pulling down onthe metal lines on the passenger side... kinda pulling them down and TWANG! letting them go and hitting the tunnel!

Re: attnetion steve spohn

my car was doin the same thing yesterday. it turned out to be the lower bolt on the front mount. it was loose...most likely cause i was running slicks tighten those two bolts again and you'll be fine. oh and use some loktite and dont grease those fittings. check for clearances all around too, to see if anything is hittin.

I've had the same clunking problem since the day I installed the tranny. It's only when I let off the gas or cruise at a steady speed. I have yet to figure out what it is. Everything was torqued down really good, and I have the angle set to -1degrees like you're supposed to. I really don't think this problem is from a loose bolt, at least in my case. But I don't know, it's stumped me for some time now.

I've got that same clunk but I'm running a spherical rod end instead of the bushing. Everything is good-n-tight but the arm still moves up and down ever so little due to the size difference of the bolt and the hole in the rod end.

I just installed the same arm with the front loop. I havent actually driven the car yet, so I'm not 100% sure whats going to happen, but it looks like there is interference with the top tube of the torque arm and a bolt that holds on a bracket for the fuel lines. The arm itself looks great, and seems to be a very heavy duty piece, I'm just a little dissapointed in the fit Hopefully it dont cause too much of a problem.

I took a look at my interference problem, and it looks like I can "persuede" that area with few pops of a hammer. The sheet metal in that area is pretty flimsy, and it looks like the bracket can be removed fairly easily.
