RS Vs Z28/Iroc

I was under the impression that the suspensions were quite smiller. Only difference was Coil Spings, and sway bars.

I was fiddling around a gm site, and it said the lower control arms are different, the tourqe arm was different, plus obvious sways, springs, and track arm.

So what is difference between the lower control arms, and tourqe arms??

Thinker material, extra bracing??

BTW , what is stock size sways for 91 RS?? I'm looking to go midgrade, not the extra stiff.

if you have the 16 inch wheels on the rs then everything is the same except for the front springs i think, i could be wrong though. Maybe everything is the same?

I don't have the 16", plus it said nothing on the site about having different wheels, or different suspesion packages (f41, fe2, etc).

Anyone know??

the 16 inch wheels included the upgraded suspension. If you dont have the 16 inch wheels then you have a different less sporty suspension. I'm not 100% sure on what that intales, but i think different sway bars, springs, and several other suspension pieces. Anyone know exactly whats the difference?

Ok, so I have the cheapest suspension.

So I can go to my local pull-a-part and get the v8 lower control arms? Then install midgrade swaybars, already have poly endlinks. That should be a decent upgrade, and leaves space for more improvement if wanted for future.

What about the tourqe arm?? Don't think I need that for the little power I'm running thru it?

to tell you the truth, i have had alot of success with the 1le sway bars and my softride RS springs. it will out handle IROCs any day of the week, and still is nice and smooth driving around because of my soft springs.

of course i have LCAs, panhard, sfcs, stb, wonderbar, and poly bushings. but that with the soft springs, and big swaybars makes for a very well balanced car. i am going to put some stiffer springs on here fairly soon, and see what changes it makes but as is, i am very happy with my cars handling and ride. i sort of get the best of both worlds right now.

"...will out handle IROCs any day of the week...." Pretty bold statement, Dewey.

Dale, you might check my sig for some of the things I've done. My car rides firmly but not harshly.

pick a part

i replaced rear ends from a 91 Z to my 91 RS. My RS had 16" wheels. everything bolted up perfect....same suspension IMOP. if you are gonna pull off control arms from a junk yard, bring a F%&%in torch. Some of those bolts are so corroded and rusted to the rubber bushing and you can get them out w/o melting the sh** out of the bushing. bring a hammer w/ you.

thanks james

I really dont want to do SFC's, if it was a vert, I would.

Also, I am noticing the 36/24 combo is hard to find, the 34/21 is easier, and is a upgrade already.

Panhard bar, gotta get that when I lower it.

Tourqe arm, I dont see a need to upgrade unless I see v6/v8 side buy side and see obvious difference why I should switch. Thinking same for control arms. Would love to see side buy side.

z28, thanks for thoughts, didn't even cross my mind. IF their that hard to take off, I will mail order them
