Alignment angles

Alignment angles

I am only able to get 3.5 degrees caster out of my right side , anybody else getting more than this. I am begianing to think my frame might be tweaked . Also how much camber are you running on the street . I have mine set at 1.5 degrees neg . I really wanted to get more caster out of my car . Oh its also been lowered with eibach pro kit .

depending on year of car it varies.

as you can see, 82-86, they put in 3.00* +/- 1.00* from 87-92, they moved it up to 4.80* +/- 0.50* they moved the slots back in the later years.

what you can do to get more caster, is to remove the strut mounts and elongate the slots towards the windshield. this will allow you to move the strut back more.

as far as camber goes. i use -0.50* any more than about 1* and you'll get tire wear.

Yeah i know ill probably get more wear , but the factory setting on my car for camber is 1 degree neg . I was just wondering what everyone else was running . According to the hunter alignment machine the 86 model year is different from the rest . I dunno what exactly . All know is it shows 82-85, 86 , then 87-92 . Mine being the 86 . I like the 1.5 camber , i would like to get into the 5 degree caster area for auto x courses . But i am not going to f-with it for a while its to much of a hassle to mess with very often . It took about 2 hours to get the caster , and camber exactly the same from side to side . Well i also did a match mount in that time , so not quite 2 hours .

the factory setting is 1* positive not negative. but i don't go by those when i do an alignment on mine and other fbodies.

Slots are the same in all the years. I've aligned many older and newer thirdgen's. My old 82 has around 5 positive caster. Yes the stock settings are terrible. Check to make sure the mounts are slid all the way back into the slots. The mount could be stuck, strut bent, spindle bent, control arm bent. Is that wheel pushed back in the wheel well more than the other?

My included angle sai are within spec . No visable cracks , shining spots , or undercoating cracked and the struts are brand new. The strut bolts are all the way agianst the holes on the right side . The left side i can adjust more if the riht would allow it . Im thinking about bring it to a body shop to have the frame checked , and straightened if needed . But i will probably have to cut my subframe connectors off . the reason im leaning towards frame is that my drivers door hit the fender when i opened it one day . But it allways drove straight ...

Well you just need the SAI angle (steering axis inclination) and the camber and that will tell you if anything is out. Those 2 combined give included angle. You can have caster, camber and toe in spec and still have IA out. This will let you know if there are any bent/missing suspension components.

Oops. Didn't see your above post. Well in that case check your setback. Is it positive or negative at all? You could also check thrust angle while your at it.

thrust angle was at .05 . Left toe was .06 and right was -.01 . But i have eibach pro kit springs and stock pandhard , control arms . I didn't measure for setback . but 1 inch is acceptable . The car handles pretty good after i did my alignment , and put dunlop 245/50 sp 5000 on front . They were on the back , but i have the orginal tires from when i bought the car 5 years ago on the back know . Daytonas , 225/55 . those things suck . they can't hook for anything . I tryed to do a drift coming home , and it just around , so i streered into , and ended up doing two cookies .
