Front sway bar removed? come inside
My car is mainly strip driven, but I like to play around town and cruise once in awhile when the weathers nice. I've heard many people say removing the front sway bar helps the car launch better, which I can understand the theory. Question: to those of you that have removed the front sway bar, how does the car react to street driving-I know I can't hang corners, I run slicks anyway, but my friends mom's Cutlass broke the drivers side link and the car leaned dangerously when turning a corner, I don't want it to act that way, I can deal with some body roll since it's to be expected, I just don't want to look like I have hydraulics (3 wheel motion

I drive mine everyday without it, and I don't even really notice it's gone. You'll sacrifice very little handling but it'll still be safe. As long as you have the back sway bar you'll be fine. My car without the front sway still handles better than my Tahoe.

I've drove without both of them (not at same time though)
I did not like how the rear reacted at all when it was missing the bar. Wondered around a LOT. Felt really sloppy when driving. Almost like I was going to spinout or something.
As for the front, I could tell it was missing, it would lean a little and I felt like I had to slow down a lot more to take corners. The best part of having the front sway bar missing was how far the driversside would dip when I would put the car into gear. It's only a 305, but it would still bring it down at first. I guess that swaybar also counteracts the torque from the motor as well.

When I was swapping out rears last year I broke the u-bolts for the rear sway bar, after 6 trips to the local u-bolt shop (buddy runs it and they custom make u-bolts-but the day I did it he was gone and had the usual dumbas.es working) I gave up on reinstalling it. I'm sure it effected or took away from what the car might have done off the line, but I was so consistent I really did'nt care. This season I want to "fine tune" the suspension peices so the rear sway is going back on, I bought new poly bushings and 3/4" longer spacers for a little more pre-load, plus I'm getting the pass. side air bag since I moved the battery out back. I justed wanted to make sure street driving would'nt be effected greatly causeing dangerous conditions. Thanks for the replies fellas.

A long time ago I took off hte front sway bar when I was heading down to the drag strip...and well the handling was total crap to me. The front end was super super sloppy and non responsive. And also the rear end wanted to swing around alot and felt like it was about to break out and slide. And at higher speeds it felt un easy and shaked more.

I disconnected the end links at the track once and was too lazy to reconnect them. I drove home on my usual route and was very unhappy with the cornering ability. I won't drive without the front sway bar any more.
