I used new GM isolators on the front and reused the rear isolators. I did get new GM isolators for the rear but they must be for the 4th gens and they made the rear sit too high.

Sorry, I don't have the part numbers in front of me but the fronts ran $6 each at the dealer.

Ed:

Were the new GM front isolators the same size as the old ones from your car.

Also, Jegs has Energy Suspension rear isolators but they just refer to them as fitting most midsize GM 65 and up.

Do you know if the ES rear isolators are the same thickness as the old ones for 3rd gens.

Thanx

No problem guys. Dan, I sold mine to a guy who wanted to raise his rear end a bit. He felt his lowering springs put it down too low, and these did the trick. I'd just hold on to them and you'll probably get rid of them eventually.

George: Yes, they were the same as the old ones I took off the car. They fit right. I had ordered a set of ES poly ones from Summit but they kept pushing back the ship date so I cancelled the order. I think they might have them in stock by now. At the time I needed them, they were still a new item. I do not know about the rear isolators, but I guess you could order them and ship them back if they don't work.

Here's my picture of the stock rear isolators and the new "too thick" ones, side by side. It's easy here to see the difference.

Well I ordered the insulators for my 91 Firebird and the front part# is right but the rear part# I have is 10290379. Two things to consider:

1- I have a 91 Firebird and you have a 88 Firebird. I dont know if the #'s change because of the different years

2- I got these #'s from Drop Top IROC. So if they're wrong blame him.

Ed~ If you see this post and find somebody thats wants the rear insulators let me know..I'll sell mine. Im pretty comfident that Im gonna ed up with the same problem as you.

Good luck Dutchbird...

I'll almost guarantee that if you check the part number for a 4th gen rear isolator that's what you'll come up with.
