Question for Spohn....or anyone in the know...

I need some info from a knowledgable suspension guru. My problem is getting a good 60' time. I have my car set up more for taking corners, but I would like to get it to launch well also. I have a 91 Camaro, Eibach sportlines, Koni adjustable struts, Bilstien rear shocks, Spohn relocation brackets, Hotchkis lower rear arms (soon to be J&M Products arms with the bearings at each end). I don't want to raise the car back up or change it in any way to degrade my handleing from what it is now , but I need to launch better too. Can it be possible to have the best of both worlds? I doubt it, but need to ask anyways. I would like to get an aftermarket torque arm, but am waiting to get my new trans. first, either a TKO tremec , or a T-56.... Do you think a torque arm and slicks will hook me up? My very best 60' to date has been a 1.996 and it felt great compared to the average launch, so that tells you how bad my traction issue is. Please offer up some pointers. Please remember though, I want it to still handle excellant too. Also, if I get an aftermarket torque arm, what degree setting should help me the most? The engine is making big torque and I am running 3:70 gears if that helps in making any suggestions. Thanks a ton.

Another thing... I am already running BFG Drag Radials and they help some, but not enough.

Well I'm no guru, but from my understanding an aftermarket torque arm would GREATLY help your traction problem.

Get an aftermarket adjustable Torque Arm. With this you can adjust your pinion angle with a simple twist of a screw for better traction and will cut down your 60 ft.

Also you can remove your rear sway bar

Spohn also take the torque arm off of the transmission. It has it's own crossmember that it bolts to. And like mentioned before you can adjust the pinion angle easily. It is also way better than that stamped steel pos from the factory.

How much of a traction improvement off the start does the spohn tq arm help? I put on brackets, lcas, and boxed sfcs last spring and it bogged the car even with street tires, then I blew the trannie so I went with a 2400 9.5 ACT and a Pro-Built 700-r4. I can't get any hook off the line with street tires. I can spin the tires at 25-30 mph easy if I hit the gas hard. Getting a tax refund to pay for most of the tq arm so I'm looking into one.

you'll notice a difference in traction. i have a manual and when i change my pinion angle my tires get harder to chirp. i shift purdy quick and sometimes i wont be able to chirp them. and you have an auto, you should be able to hook up better.

Get a shorter torque arm (that mounts to it's own cross member) and disconnect the FRONT sway bars. If you want to carve up the twisties, you'll have to give up a little to those who just want to go straight. The shorter torque arm really helps in the launch dept. Also, adjustable shocks are a big help, since you can soften them up at the 1/4, and firm 'em up on the road course.

Yeah, live in country here. So I have a nightly practice of dodging deer. I just get tired of tapping the gas at 25-30 mph and the tires lighting up... for some reason the cops don't like that either.

Wouldn't it just be disconnecting the front sway bar not bars since there's only one... hehe I still like to beable to turn corners every once and awhile. It's amazing when the amish don't turn there lights on till you get right up within 100 feet of them doing about 60 or 70 around 1 AM.

Guess I'll be investing my tax return in a spohn tq arm.

I know, I wasn't getting all pissy or anything, I just hate it when an f'd up key stroke makes me look like a dip****.
