performance susp., is it ws6?

hello, i just bought a 1989 trans am. on the dash, it has a badge that says "performance suspension". does that mean that the car has the ws6 package. it has rear drum brakes, and 15" wheels. factory "f" 305tpi motor. the rpo sticker is missing from the center console. thanks, tom

the performance suspension would indeed be ws6 for a firebird..

my 1991 formula 350 has that badge also..

If you have that badge it could mean you have the WS6 option. In most cases if you have 15" wheels + drum rears and the car year is >'85 you most likly have the level II suspension not the level III(WS6). IIRC, the level II was called F41, which you probably have. But the RPO code is the only way to make sure...

Wow somebody else from Ilion. I never thought I'd see the day where I would meet somebody online from Ilion. I have family Ilion, Herkemer and Mohawk........wierd ****. And I dont think F41 suspension ever got badged as performance suspension though. Everything I've read states unless you have ws6, there is no special badging for the car.

There were cars, especially Camaros, that actually got a "F41" rear bumper badge.

Not exactly. Like mentioned, the badge just means it is better than the base option.
