professionally made custome SFCs...need suggestions (did a search...)

i was talking to a buddy of mine who has had a lot of fast cars (usually 5.0s, but whatever) about getting SFCs welded.

he says he knows a guy that is amazing at doing that type of thing, but he told me NOT to buy any, because he will make them himself just for my car. now, this guy does full roll cages in cars, and makes all kinds of crap for mustangs, etc. as far as custom rear suspensions and things like that, so i know he isnt some schmuch off the streets that just got a welder from sears.

knowing how well pre-fab SFCs work and fit (i.e. Spohn), should i just ask him to weld them up, or should i let him do whatever he wants and custom make SFCs? price isnt really a concern i dont think...i guess he is pretty resonable.

what do you guys think? i have had my mind set on the Spohns for a while now, but this may be a different way to go.

what should i look for in a custom job? any pitfalls i should be aware of? i just want to know what i may be getting into.

thanks...

you don't have to work for nasa to make SFCs. go with what you like and is most cost effective.

agreed. the custom job will probably cost more, but not by much. go with what works for you. the Spohns are a great fit.

I had mine custom made, and I am very happy with them. They costed me cheaper than buying frame connectors and having them installed, and to be honest I think they aer probably better than anything you can buy. That's just me though! Here are a some pics ....unfortunatley they are the best I have for now!

it will most gifenetly be cheaper to have them custom made, cause they will probably use 2x2, or 2x3 tubing, and for the length that they need to be to go from rear subframe, to front subframe, will probably be no more than 12ft total of tubing, but if you get custom made sfcs, they will probably have to run through the floorpan to be done right.

I custom made my own using 2"x2" tubing. It did not require notching the floorboards. Theyre are some places that need ground off so that they are flush but other than that it's a real simple job. Suspension parts aren't hard to make if you have the tools and ability to do it right, it just takes some thought to make sure that you have it the way you want it.

If your car has been in a wreck in the past, even if it is fine now, get them custom mode. If not, I would go with pre-fabbed.
