Brake line fitting - hopefully this is the end all to this
Hi all need some info on brake lines, just picked up an 85 rs with 79k ok it for 300 bucks, guy told me it blew a front brake line, which it did. After I fixed it, i bled the brakes and when the pressure built back up it blew a pinhole in the intermediate steel line. (the line that runs from the prop valve all the way back to the rubber hose in the back on the diff) Now heres the deal, i can't find a replacement anywhere (disco'd by GM, Have hit EVERY auto parts store and jobber within 25 miles) and i have been told a bunch of different things about the line.
Ive been told that the line itself is 1/4 inch but with metric fittings, I have also been told that the line is 6mm.
What i need to know is if i can buy a 1/4 inch english line, chop off the new fittings, put on my old fittings, and have the line reflared to the ISO/metric bubble type. Or do i have to find 6mm line, which i have found at a hydraulic shop at $20.00 bucks a meter. I cant believe that i'm not the only person to have this problem. The fittings of the prop valve and the one into the rubber hose are 2 different sizes, if it makes a difference. I need to get this done like yesterday so i would prefer not to order the line online. Post away and thanks all!! Jason

If you want a new tube, visit http://www.classictube.com - they make one. I'd love to see the size of the box it comes in!!
They even make their lines in stainless steel if you want... you can even buy the whole f-body set.

Did the search for you, just the front-to-rear line is part #CA1020B. Not a bad price; maybe I'll replace mine, too; it's got some rust on it. Were you driving when that sucker blew out?
