Will This 12 Bolt from a chevelle fit?
friend is giving me a 12 bolt from a 70 or so chevelle. would it be too long for my car. if it will what will need to be done to make it stronger and reliable for lots of power.

No it will not fit. Don't know for sure about the length, but I doubt it's right; it needs to be about 58½" from axle flange to axle flange for these cars, and I think a A-body rear will be longer than that. But that's the least of your problems.
It has no torque arm mount, the wrong spring perches, the wrong lower control arm mounts, and no Panhard bar bracket.
