Interesting LCA bracket finding
Interesting LCA bracket finding
I just replaced my drum brake rear end with a disc rear from a '95 Formula. Same gear ratio and posi. When I lowered my car last year I installed LCA brackets at the same time, so I couldn't do a before/after test to see how much they helped. Well, we tried cutting the LCA brackets off my rearend to put on the new one, but we couldn't get to all of the welds to get them off. I installed the new rear anyway without the brackets and decided I would install new brackets if I needed them.
I took the car out for a spin last night, did a quick burnout to warm the tires up, reved it up to about 2500, dropped the clutch and didn't spin at all. Threw it in second, spun them a little, kept on going.
The interesting part? Lowered car, and not a single bit of wheel hop like many people fear with lowered cars. Maybe its just me, but I don't think the LCA brackets helped me one bit.
