steering box

I just had to replace my power steering box on my 1983 Z28. It works now, but i hear that this is a very weak point on third gens. I hear that installing a steering brace makes a big difference. I was wondering how true this is and if so what is the best one for the money. I was looking at Spohn's Wonderbar for $60. Also wondering if i should bother with an adjustable. I Was also wondering if it would be wise to replace the sway bar or anything else to help strengthen the steering and front end.

I would strongly recommend a steering brace of some sort. I noticed a difference in steering feel while driving aggressively, under normal conditions, I did not notice a difference, nor should I have. I don't think a larger sway bar will help to lessen the load on the frame in that area, if anything it will put more stress on the sheetmetal. Larger, sticker tires do to. I welded my steering box area about a year ago, only had stress cracks then, when I installed a wonderbar, they were back. I rewelded it and in the passed 6 months of so, they have not returned.

About the adjustable one, I think it may have been easier to install than the fixed one. I had to elongate one sides holes a bit to make it line up properly.
