disc brake calipers

Car: 1982 Trans Am & 1982 Corvette
Engine: L-98 with LO-3 induction. 350 CFI
Transmission: 5 speed and vette has 700r4
Axle/Gears: 373's in T/A .. vette unknown
disc brake calipers
got trouble, went to try and replace my brake pads on the rear, used screw driver to pry the piston in on the right side, went to the left side and it wouldn't budge at all, if the emergency brake cable has any tension on it will that cause my piston to not go into the caliper, or is my caliper just frozen up ? if it is frozen up how hard & what to do to make it work again ?

sorry forgot to update, replaced my calipers ..... sleeves were rusted or something.
