AutoX suspension setup

I have a 92 Z28 I am going to start racing in F-Stock and was wondering what "stock" parts I could take off of other F-bodies to improve suspension, I also need better shocks and springs, couldn't I try to find 92 Firehawk suspension parts? would the eject me from F-Stock I mean after all these parts did come on F-Bodies, I guess I need shocks cause right now I have air shocks in back and pretty sure that would eject me from f-stock. what would qualify as a "stock" shock, Like a monroe oem replacement type or do they have to be GM. thanks for anyhelp that can be given, sorry so long and so many q's at once.

can I just walk up to the chevy parts counter and order 1le shocks and springs and such would they amount to the heavy duty parts? also the slp boxed panhard bar and LCAs would they be considered "stock" and not get me kicked out of F-Stock

No one is going to kick you out unless you win9Then they MAY protest-but not always. Everybody cheats- best tip, buy some good aftermarket shocks and paint them stock. You won't be the only one doing this.

Thats what I was about to respond...just buy some struts/shocks and paint them black...hell make it even more stock looking and make them dirty too O_o or also another thing you could do is get springs which dont lower your car...yet are stiffer. I forgot though which company made springs like that. Other then that...I'd say 1LE parts. Also watch out also on the mods you do to your motor and waht not. Back when I did SCCA I got put into ESP againts race tuned camaros and what not just because I had headers O_o

In F-Stock you don't have to run factory shocks. Your best choice for autocross is Koni Sports, second choice would be Bilstein. Any other company's shocks, forget them.

Get a good alinement: 1/16 inch tow out and as much negitive camber that you can get up to 2 degrees.

DOT Race tires Kumho or Hoosier: 245/45/16

Make sure the suspention bushings are in good shape. I they need replaced get the 1LE bushings. Do a search to fine the part numbers.

What he said. Shocks are free in stock. You can also run any front sway bar, and you can run any bushing that goes with it. Click here for a rundown of stock rules.

You can't change to 1LE parts unless you compeltely change everything to 1LE specs and for that particular year only. That being said, I think a non-1LE third gen (like '89+ LB9 5-speed or L98) could do pretty well in F Stock.

Also, stranoparts.com sells re-valved Bilsteins (which I have on my car).

the wheels have to have a GM part number to be F-Stock Also right? Im thinking about the SLP firehawk rims for 82-92 camaro and firebirds, like the ones the guy put on his car in this months GM High Tech Performance. am i right in assuming these should cause no problems?

Nope. You can use any wheel that has the same width and diameter as an available factory wheel. The offset can have a little deviation, but it has to be with in a 1/4 of an inch of the factory offset (including any spacers).

As for the Firehawk wheels, you can't us them in stock class because all Firehawks were prohibited from stock just like Cobra-R's.
