Lowered Car, Adjusting Panhard Rod

Which way does the panhard rod need to be adjusted if the car is lowered, shorter or longer. I did a search and didn't find it, but i know i have seen it before, damnit.

Thanks

Shorter I believe. What you really need to do is get a measuring tape and check the depth of the rim from the edge of the fender on each side and adjust it until they're the same.

You have to make it shorter. Think of it as you are shortening the adjacent side of a triangle so that makes the hypotenous of the trianlge shorter (panhard rod). Be carefull when adjusting it based on the method TheGreatJ said. I did it that way and i was actually off. A reputable shop installed and adjusted mine and to the "nake eye" it did not look like it was centered and that the rear of the car was shifted. They took the car back three times, because I thought it was not right, and they set it based on rear end geometry and not how the body looked against the rims. The car ran awesome so I geuss they were right.

wouldnt the proper way to measure it by the suspension be to measure it crosswise from the drivers side front LCA mount to the rear pass side LCA mount on the axle..

and then doing the other measurement from front pass to rear drivers side, and comapring the two???

i think thats right...... also, wouldnt you want the weight of the car on the axle when you measure since thats how teh car sits normally?

i dont have one yet, but i noticed the the outside edge of my rear wheels have the slightest feathering of when they touch the fenderwell edge when im turning hard with the suspension compressed.... so im planning on getting one soon to help correct that... along with some LCAs and new bushings.

I installed mine and adjusted it the way GreatJ said . the car was checked at an alignment shop who said it was perfect and the car handles great.

Schultzy89GTA,
