Baer Brakes - Worth It?
Can you actually tell a difference between the Baer Braking System and the stock system during daily street driving. I do not have any problems with the stock system on my 1990 Formula. It's a lot of money to upgrade if it doesn't make a noticable difference. I don't want to spend the money JUST for the knowledge that I have a 'better-than-stock' braking system.

personaly with the c4, 1le, ls1 and c5 upgrades all being done now, i think the baer kit is a waste of money, all of them are noticebly better than stock, but you can get into any of the above listed swaps much cheaper than baer.

You think the brakes on are cars are fine until you have a set of Baer's then you relize just how bad the stock brakes suck. I guess it really depends on how hard you drive your car as to whether or not there worth it. The stock brakes fade way to fast when used hard.
do a search and you'll find your answer.....very easy to put someone through your windshield.
there are more cost efficient ways out there to produce similar results but if you look the price of a baer kit can be very reasonable and not only do they work very well but they look good.

Yes, they are definately worth the money. I personally don't have them (I have a lightweight V6 car with a completely rebalanced 10.5" 4 wheel system and my car stops great) however, if I push them running autocross, they will warp very rapidly in the days to follow and need to be turned. The larger Baer brakes have very good quality rotors and are not so tempermental- If my car were a V8, I would have gone that route in the first place- even now I am still considering it.

If you are not having any trouble with your stock brakes I would save the money and skip the Baers.
I will be swapping to the LS1 brakes within the next few months but this is because I am having fade problems and short pad/rotor life on road race tracks. I never had any trouble with my brakes on the street or autocrossing. For road race duty, I think the Baers or some other system are a good idea. However, for the street I think Baers are overpriced and overkill.

overkill........possibly. overpriced is another story. do some searching as they are very reasonable. 600 for a 12" setup without all the pretty bells and whistles is pretty resonable for a 2 piston caliper and better rotor.
good luck.
good luck.

Since I have had the Baers on my Camaro since 1997, I am pretty much sold on them. You cannot believe the difference in braking capability going from stock to the basic 2 piston Baer kit. Let me put it this way - the stock brakes are about equivalent to a modern minivan, the baer brakes are equivalent to a Z06 Vette; which one would you rather have? The kit is about $1,100 and will make an f-body stop as good (most cases better) than anything over $100k coming out of europe and still be able to get parts at just about any auto parts store.
The one good thing about the Baer kit is the fact that everything is done - all you must do is swap out the spindles, attach the brake lines (included stainless steel braided lines), and bleed it. That's it for the install. Ok, you must break them in properly, but that is normal for any brakes system.
As for the LS1 F-body brakes, they are Ok, but if you are gonna pay $700 or so the parts then have to machine/assemble everything, its not such a great deal. They won't stop as well nor resist fade as good either. If you have more than 250hp, don't go for any stock system besides the 1LE, even that isn't cheap compared to the Baer kits.

I was thinking about that too if the baer was atcually worth it. But after seeing that I could convert my front brakes to C5 brakes for only about $500-600 Imma go with the C5 brakes. That and some green stuff brake pads and it'll be all good.
