Rebuild or Reman:That is the question
I just received a pair of PBR rear brake calipers I purchased through the classifieds section here at TGO. They came with rotors,e brake cables and even Earl's SS flex lines attached to the calipers along with every nut and bolt needed. My question is should I rebuild them or turn them in as cores on a pair of reman units? They were sitting for a while so I'm not 100% sure that they are still useable. Any thoughts?

You can find rebuild kits through places like expressautoparts.com and carparts.com if you want to rebuild them yourself... then at least you know it's done right.
But that's just coming from me... I don't trust places.

I'd compare prices of rebuilt calipers to the rebuild kit and see which seems most economical. Most parts stores offer a lifetime warranty on the calipers.

id say if they're not all corroded, and the piston pushes back in the caliper w little force id run them as is. if the piston wont go, i'd do the reman unless your experienced at rebuilding calipers.i bought reman from a/z for frt 1le for like 32$ ea (and they were new) as cores aren't avail

Well,it looks like I may be going the reman route. I was disassembling the parts yesterday for cleaning and paint and to examine the calipers and found that one appears to be good but the other seems to be frozen. Being that I'm not that experienced with brakes beyond replacing pads and getting rotors and drums turned I'm all up for taking the easy route. Sounds like a contradiction considering I'm swapping the rear end out and switching from drum to disc brakes at the same time.
