spring isolators

I'm guessing this is a no brainer, but should i replace the spring isolators when i put in my pro kit? Also does only the rear have them and does anybody know where/how much a new set would cost?

thanks

It's not a not brainer - a lot of people have found that the new rear isolators from GM are too thick because maybe they are for 4th gens.

There's isolators in the front. My isolators were 20 years old when I changed the springs an were still usable so they went back in. Also, for the rears some people have just a piece of hose on the spring instead of the isolator.

i reused mine, front and back. they looked too perfect to go out and buy new ones, especially with the confusion that there seems to be regarding the height of the GM replacements. no problems

thicker how?

like they would raise the car some??

if say... you lowered the car just a tad too much, could you replace the isolator with a new one from GM and have that raise the car a half inch or somthing?

yeah these newer ones are pretty thick, and would indeed raise up the car a tad more, maybe a quarter to a half inch. someone had posted pics of the new ones they bought awhile back i believe.

my front stock ones were really tiny just like a thing sheet of rubber but i still used them, my rear ones were alot thicker and heavier, they have like metal or something in them, i was going to take them out and use something thinner to lower my rear some after the drag spring install. the rear ones seems to be more beefier to support the area where the springs go up into the body.

Use the old ones. The old ones are also reinforced with steel, the newer "4th gen" isolators are all rubber.

If I remember correctly, the Paddock (in their newest catalogue)sells both the front and rears for our cars. By the way, when I did my 1LE upgrade, I noticed that the isolators were in good shape, but since replacement cost was only ten bucks or so, I bought new.

I bought new front isolators when I did my suspension rebuild. The old ones were squashed pretty good. So I'm sure, by new, the new ones have squashed, and probably lowered the car by an additional 1/8th inch (or whatever).
