is rubbing a prob with 17 x 9's?
I posted this in the appearance board already - couldn't decide which board is more appropriate....
Is this likely to be an issue for me? Not sure what rolling stock I'll be using, but with proper spacers up front and 17 x 9's (going on an 89 IROC with factory 15's....) do I need to expect major rubbing problems?
Who has experience with like-sized wheels on third gen camaros?
Please pitch in, thanks
Kevin

I have 98 SS rims on my car and with the 2" spacers my rims dont rub any. Well...atcually it did a little but that was full lock. And you should atcually never be in complete lock of your steering system. So it should be just fine for normal and competitive driving.

I do not rub with my 17x9's either, even at full lock and hard cornering. This is with 275/40/ZR17 out back and 245/45/ZR17 up front.

I've been running 17x9.5 with some 275/40/17 Yokohama decibals all the way around, with minimal rubbing up front.
I run joung bloed racing wheels 17x10 up front, 17x11 in the rear and 285 40 zr17 all the way around. No problems during regular or aggressive driving. Close though. They do touch the side ground effects at lock, but just enough to clean the dirt off.

I am just using the stock springs for now... I am not sure of this, but my car seems to ride about an inch lower than most coupes, not sure if it is the extra weight of the convertible or what. But any how, I intend on converting to a coil over soon.

Eibach Prokit with 17 x 9.5 firehawk rims and 275/40 KDWs on all four corners - very slight rubbing at the front after I thrashed it round an autox course. Not enough to worry about.
I have 17x9.5 inch wheels with 275/40/17s all around. I rubbed with stock ride height, so I cut the inner fender some.
Then I lowered the car 2inches and rubbed like hell with 2 and 1/4 inch spacers.
Now I have the spacers, Baer 13" Track Kit which moves the spindle out about 0.40 of and inch with 2" inch drop springs, and tubular front control arms and I finally don't rub anymore, but it's still close. My tire sits flush with my fender but doesn't stick out.
I find it hard to believe that nobody else is rubbing with this setup, but if not then good for ya'll. Hell even my rears rub too, but I just gotta get back there and play around with the panhard rod.

I had to put 5/16 spacers on the front because one of the wheels just barely touched the tie rod end. The rims I have were designed for Brembo or Baer brakes or whatever came on the slp firehawks and as you said they make the front a bit wider.
