Question about going to rear disc brakes

Alright I've been thinking about converting my drum brakes to disc, but in the tech article says it can't be done. Everyday I hear about someone changing over to discs. Whats the deal, can I do it? I really don't want to swap the entire rear end out. The one I have is already set up the way I want except for the disc brakes.

which tech article says you can't? Baer sells a kit specifically to do that, parking brake and all. There is also a tech article posted on converting your drum rear to LS1 F-body rear discs.

Get some 16" rims/tires if you dont have em already - My 15" rally's wouldn't fit over new rear disc brakes...

Stock brakes fit just fine inside stock 15" rims.

This is what I was talking about. It comes from How to upgrade you brakes written by Paul huryk.

" If you have a drum rear car,the rear must be swapped, since the drum rears do not have the proper backing plate to be switched."

Ok so simple stated can I buy a conversion kit off of Ebay and start putting together some disc brakes???

If you're not afraid of modifying the drum flanges it can be done:

Baer sells a convertion kit that bolts directly to the drum flange. Right now, thats the easiest and best way to go. I am personally waiting to see if Alloy develops a rear Wilwood setup to balance the front one he developed for Spohn. I am sick and tired of the rattles and chirps I get when I heat up my Iron caliper 10.5" brakes. They stop great- just rattle, clunk, twang, and squeak like a M.F.- I am sick of the noises they make.

um... no... theres a lip inside the rim that hits the front face of the rear brake calipers that prevents the rim from seating against the hub. I wish it wasn't so, as it added $450 in tires to my new ride...

If you've already got 16's
