how to improve handling

i have an 84 Z28 and i want it to handle better. i know the first steps are to get polly bushings and good tires. what would be next? shocks? sway bars?

if i had 245/50/16s all the way around, new bushings, and about $1000 into shocks and other handling things, about how many G's would i be pulling in the turns?

right now i have 205/60/15s on the front, 245/60/15s on the back, bad bushings, and all the rest is stock. it holds pretty good in the turns comparred to most cars, how much do you think this stuff would help?
